HP Fight Against Counterfeit Printing Supplies
In a world where counterfeit products continue to pose risks to consumers and tarnish the reputation of brands, HP continues to take bold steps forward to combat counterfeiters. HP, a leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) across various business unit categories, from computing to print, has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at eradicating counterfeits and near substitutes of its products across Africa, Central, and East (ACE) markets.
The recent event held in Lagos marked a significant milestone in this initiative. It brought together stakeholders and key players in the industry, serving as a platform for educating them on the critical importance of using exclusively authentic HP supplies. Moreover, the event equipped consumers with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify counterfeit products, empowering them to make informed choices.
One of the key highlights of the event was the guidance provided to participants on how to spot fake items. Attendees were educated on examining the holographic features on product labels, ensuring the presence of correct brands, inspecting the packaging for authenticity, and scrutinizing the codes and dates. This hands-on approach ensures that consumers have the tools to safeguard themselves against counterfeit products.
HP’s commitment to combating counterfeiting goes beyond regional initiatives. The Global Anti-counterfeit Program (ACF) is a testament to the company’s dedication to protecting its printing supplies. The ACF initiative aims to identify the manufacture, distribution, and sale of counterfeit products through thorough investigations and enforcement actions, further safeguarding the integrity of the HP brand.
Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Asika, the Country Head of HP Nigeria and Omni-Channel for HP Africa, Central, and East (ACE), emphasized the global challenge posed by counterfeit products. Counterfeits not only put consumers at risk but also undermine the trust consumers place in brands. Mr. Asika reiterated HP’s determination to eradicate counterfeit products from the market, protect its customers, and preserve its brand reputation.
In a bid to foster a collaborative environment and strengthen the fight against counterfeiting, HP is committed to maintaining an open line of communication with its distributors. This approach encourages distributors to report any suspicions or incidents of counterfeiting, making it increasingly difficult for counterfeiters to operate unchecked.
HP Africa is not only protecting its brand and customers but also empowering consumers to make informed choices and contribute to the eradication of counterfeit products. With a commitment to education, collaboration, and vigilance, HP is setting a high standard for brand integrity and consumer safety in the ACE region and beyond.
